Married to milquetoasty business owner Don , Mona is an OCD sufferer with structurally perfect blond hair, flawless makeup and a poisonous personality. The film stars Katherine Heigl, Patrick Wilson, Jordana Brewster, Kevin McKidd, A.J. Buckley, Chi McBride, and Jim Belushi. Mona and Don’s seemingly perfect suburban bliss is disrupted by a sexy extortionist and Mona will stop at nothing, including killing the competition, to keep her little slice of heaven. I feel like he has a lot of things that he doesn't share, intentionally or not, and I wanted to shake the secrets out of him through the entire book. And, while it may have been difficult to see her and Shea not see eye-to-eye on the frightening ghostly happenings, I appreciated that conflict as a bit of an extra layer to the story.
The police decided that Murphy and Benji were responsible for the murders. His detail-oriented wife Mona has everything planned according to the book of her goals. One day an attractive young woman named Dusty applies for a sales job at Don's store. Don and Mona dig out the body of Dusty and go to the place where the gang lives. Murphy also discovers parts of Dusty in the freezer and realizes he has been set up. The police decide that Murphy and Benji were responsible for the murders.

In the end, Home Sweet Hell is neither an adequate black comedy nor a good slasher film. So when Don hires a pretty new salesgirl Dusty , it’s easy to understand why he falls for her out-of-the-blue seduction. When Dusty tells Don she’s pregnant and needs money for medical care, Don confesses his transgressions to Mona, who becomes completely unhinged. Mona insists that murder is the only answer to keep their perfect life together. Mona Champagne scrapbooks obsessively, imagining herself into a perfect life with the perfect house and yard and family.
I could literally picture every minute detail as it was happening which, to me, is always a great sign of amazing writing. Murphy and his friends, Freeman and Benji , discover Dusty is missing, and suspect that something went wrong and attack Les. Murphy also threatens Don by leaving his son a letter, in which he demands a meeting at a strip club.

That definitely unravels for her pretty quickly and I actually liked seeing her work through all of the emotions of her homecoming and re-connecting with her old flame. I felt like it added to the build-up of the story and gives you a sense of how she’s changing as events keep escalating and how much it is affecting her. The storyline revolves around a well-to-do businessman , who is used to having things his own way, but appears to be helpless at the hands of his domineering wife . When Mona sees the risk of her programmed life be shattered by a blackmailer, she does not hesitate to get rid of the woman. The black humor is too dark and the conclusion with Mona totally out of control is inconsistent with her personality. With friends Freeman and Benji, Murphy discovers Dusty is missing, suspect something went wrong, so they attack Les. I have to give credit where it's due, this book was responsible for getting me out of a year long reading slump. Wouldn't recommend a read-through at night when you're home alone! Haven't read anything horror related in a while, but this is proper scary and creepy. The ending does leave one with some questions about what is happening and if it really is over but that just means you must read the next book in the series to find out what will happen.
She left her small hometown to pursue a medical career in California but returned to take care of her father. She’s composed, organized, and smart, but she still makes stupid decisions. She’s not perfect, sometimes believing she might be the smartest person in the room. But, in the end, Shea will do what it takes to keep her friends and family safe. Shea comes back to her hometown to take care of father and stumbles upon something dark that doesn’t seem to want to let go and certainly is not willing to place nice with others. At first, Shea seems like she knows what she’s doing and she’s confident of the decisions that she’s made in her life, even if they led her back home.
I’m very big into horror movies and I would most definitely watch this if it was one. Then she wouldn’t believe Shea even though her son was experiencing the same things. However, I did love it when Chloe finally witnessed everything. This book was slow with the suspense and the romance.
Without any way out, Don discloses his affair with Dusty to Mona and she tells that he must kill Dusty to protect their family. But what they do not know is that Dusty is a swindler and lover of a dangerous gangster and his gang wants to take money from the Champagne family. When Don hires the gorgeous saleswoman Dusty to work with his salesman Les, they have a torrid love affair.
The only thing that bothered me was her best friend Chloe. If there were a point to this film, it’s completely lost on us. If it’s meant to be a modern parable, then is the takeaway that women should stop being control freaks? Or that wives should do whatever they can to keep their husbands sexually satisfied to prevent straying? Or is it that a perfect suburban life is an urban legend?
Don is desperate, and Les advises him to pay Dusty money. Don Champagne seems to have it all, but when his wife, Mona, learns of his affair with a pretty new salesgirl, she will stop at nothing to maintain their storybook life. Ivy Whitaker takes us on a ride along with the main character Shea as she returns to her hometown of Verbank to care for her ailing father.
